Kintsugi (Satsuma vase)
80 x 75 x 80 cm
Coconut fibre, polymers, Kaolin and quarts
Original Piece

The Expanding China Series by Patrick Bergsma

In the expanding China series, I picked up my fascination for chinaware again. Our human culture has a long history making and decorating ceramics and porcelain. The shiny surface of it is a perfect contrast with the natural elements in my work. I developed my own techniques to make bonsai trees and flowers using coconut fibre, polymers, kaolin and quarts. I combine the ancient Asian arts of Ikebana, bonsai, and penjing with antique porcelain. In Holland there is a long tradition of influence by the East. What we call typically Dutch like Delft blue was originally an attempt to imitate the very popular porcelain imported from China and Japan. In this series I often use these 17th century “imitations”, combined with the natural elements like bonsai and ikebana. In japan there is a tradition to repair broken porcelain with golden glue called kintsugi. According to the philosophy it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. In these works, it is as if the natural elements reshape these old cultural remains from our civilization.

Description:

A classic cowboy, reimagined in pop tones and candy colors. The Lone Ranger strips the Wild West of dust and dirt, replacing it with bold pinks, crisp whites, and a background that glows like a warning light. Mounted on a spotless white horse, his silhouette is timeless — but his styling is anything but.

Gone is the rugged realism. What remains is pure symbol: heroism rebranded, attitude over authenticity.

The mask, the pose, the raised rifle — it’s all about presence. This cowboy doesn’t ride into town. He owns the frame.

Description:

Batgirl steps out of the shadows and into full spotlight. In Batgirl Inc., the iconic vigilante is rebranded — sleek, bold, and dripping with pop appeal. Her suit becomes a fashion statement: saturated with color, texture, and attitude. The classic Bat-emblem still anchors her identity, but everything else is remixed in candy-coated chaos.

Set against a background of graphic shapes and bright primaries, she stares the viewer down with confidence. This is Batgirl not as sidekick or symbol — but as brand, icon, and powerhouse in her own right. A superhero built for the era of high gloss, high impact, and high visibility.

Oil painting on Canvas

Description:

In Superman Reloaded, the legend gets a fresh coat of power. Classic meets cutting-edge in a version of Superman that’s bold, graphic, and impossible to ignore. His stance is strong, his presence iconic — but the surface tells a new story.

Half-painted, half-complete, he looks like he’s breaking through — or just getting started. This is not a throwback. This is an upgrade.

Stripped of softness, charged with color, Superman Reloaded captures a hero mid-shift: between nostalgia and now. Still the symbol we know — but sharper, louder, and built for today.

Description:

This isn’t the Wonder Woman from mythology — this is the version dipped in pop, polished with gloss, and ready for the spotlight. Bubblegum Amazon transforms the legendary warrior into a bold, body-painted icon floating in a fantasy of bubble shapes and dripping colors. She’s not just standing her ground — she owns the space.

The candy-coated palette, confident pose, and surreal details blend comic book energy with pop fashion flair. It’s playful, powerful, and unapologetically loud. Wonder Woman has never looked this fierce — or this fun.

A new kind of Amazon: sugar-sweet, sharply styled, and totally unstoppable.

WHAT IS STRUCTURE?
A timeless wall mystery by Florian Rooz

150x150cm (163x163cm incl special handmade floating oak frame made by the artist)

Price on request

There are works that aim only to decorate or delight, and then there are works that have the power to bend the mind. This is the latter. If you are looking for something singularly unique. This is it!

Crafted from a reclaimed aluminum factory plate—once a byproduct of industrial structure—this unique plate was adorned with a handcrafted, multidimensional fractal featuring impeccably fine details, which can only be observed in real life, up close, by the human eye. Further hand-painted details in 24 Carat leaf-gold over a Black 3.0 (The blackest paint in the world) background encode and complete the sheer endless dimensions of its mysterious structure. A unique design that took many years to conceptualize and bring into reality using novel new painting techniques. At the core of the work lies a multi-dimensional echo of one of the most essential questions we can ask:

“What is Structure?”

This is not a traditional painting. This is a timeless wall mystery—a living artifact that reveals itself slowly over the years, offering new perspectives with every glance. Let the deliberate and painstakingly handcrafted: perfections, imperfections, alignments, oppositions, contradictions and additional questions encoded in this stunning piece, pull you into a completely new perspective. It is a conversation piece, yes. But it is more than that, it is a thinking structure, designed to resonate with minds who are ever curious about the invisible architecture behind existence.

This artwork is an integral part of a soon-to-be released new book by the artist. Purchase and download the book here to discover some of the mysteries encoded in What is Structure?.

Whether you are a collector of rare thought-objects, a curator of radical philosophy, or someone who simply wishes to embrace a beautiful question that never stops unfolding—This unique work was made for you.

Signed by the artist. Purchase includes a signed physical copy of the book on release.
Original piece 2, in a series of 10 original pieces in this size.

This work is currently on Display at the Kruisheren Hotel in Maastricht.

About Florian Rooz:

Florian Rooz was born at a very young age and immediately began converting people to his philosophy of life — first using only body language. With sweeping gestures and wide-eyed conviction, he taught others to dream big, scream big, and reach for the impossible.

Soon he developed a language composed of hand signals and primitive sounds, which eventually evolved into Dutch, and then into English — allowing everyone on the planet to finally speak to one another.

He dreamed often of music. From the depths of imagination, strange and beautiful instruments emerged — some so resonant they rippled backwards through time and now appear in ancient history. Florian, feeling responsible, spent years teaching people how to play them until music became a stable global element.

But he found many still didn’t know how to learn. So he wrote a book called How to Learn Anything Three Times Faster and traveled the world sharing the skill of learning itself. Once he was satisfied that the world was learning steadily — rockets began landing, cars started driving themselves, and scientific miracles bloomed like wildflowers.

With the world almost running on its own, Florian turned to art and philosophy — dreaming of answering the deepest questions ever asked. He began bending ideas like Time and Consciousness into sculptural forms of pure understanding, and crafting tools for the eye of the mind to see what could never be seen before.

His quest is simple:

To bring the Earth and the stars a little closer together.
